 A Community Benefit Society is registered within the Industrial and Provident Societies and is a not for profit social enterprise. This community broadband service can only operate for the good of the community and can only be owned as a social enterprise. Its running costs are easily sustained and its profits can only be distributed to the community. In the future, projects like village hall refurbishments, community group activities or environmental projects, will all be able to apply to us for grant assistance.

The B4AV Service is run by a dedicated local team with the support of landowners and volunteers. We offer 1,000 Mbps broadband to every property in the East and West Allen Valleys and Langley area, costing households only £30 per month.  See interactive map for coverage <

1,000 Mbps or Hyperspeed Broadband  is about 100 times faster than the BT broadband service  This is delivered by fibre direct to each home underground making it much more reliable. There is no need for a BT phone line, saving at least £18 per month.


This service can do internet browsing, telephone calls, television and radio and much more, all at the same time to multiple rooms.


The service once installed will belong to the community and any profits used back in the community.


B4AV investment Community fibre is primarily funded from the community by people buying shares in B4RN community benefit society. These shares are not traded on the stock market, they can only be sold back to B4RN fo their purchase value. The money is ring-fenced for our area by entering "Allen Valleys" in the appropriate part of the application form .


● Shares can be as little as £100 and a maximum of £100,000.

● All shareholders are members of B4RN. One member one vote.

● Shares must be held for a minimum of 3 years.

● From the 1st year, interest at the current rate of 5% p/a will be paid this can be reinvested or cashed in.

● Shareholders investing  £1,500 relieve a free connection worth £150. ( One free connection for each £1,500 investment ).Any free connection not used will be allocated to worthy causes.

● Shares can only ever be sold back to B4RN at £1 each.

Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport have announced their new Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme in March this year, it is part of the Local Full Fibre Networks Programme which is a Government fund set up to help locally led projects across the UK leverage local and commercial investment in full fibre, which is the “gold standard” for fast and reliable broadband.


This scheme has been primarly aimed at helping small and medium-sized enterprises, along with the local communities surrounding them, gain access to gigabit broadband by providing grants of upto £3,000 towards the installation cost of getting fibre to your door.
